Like the haiku, the sonnet is a form not really suited to English because it lends itself to the cadences and linguistic characteristics of it's parent language-- in this case, Italian. There are two types of sonnets the Petrarchan and the Elizabethan. The latter is a bastard form developed by English speakers. Of these five sonnets, all are Elizabethan except Sparrows.
